Cafe L'Aroma

My cafe adventure continued along the most fashionable street in Boston, the center for shopaholics and city strollers. Newbury Street is known for its vast array of shopping stores, boutiques, and gourmet restaurants. It could be an intimidating street after seeing all of the brand name bags and the high-end yuppies dining outdoors. But that's not to say that there are't any affordable places. If you continue down, near second-to-last block, next to Marc Jacobs is a cafe called Cafe L'Aroma. This was the first time I've ever encountered it and I had to try it! The decor and atmosphere felt very Italian; it was definitely a classier cafe. The minute you walk in, a quick observation of the typical decor, the warm woody colors, the menu suggested a European-style eatery. I was very ecstatic to find out that they poured their drinks into actual mugs. Not a lot of places do this regardless of whether or not you order your coffee "for here" or "to go" but if you get it "for here", they put it in a coffee cup. The cafe offered your usual differently brewed coffees, espressos, and pastries. But they also have different flavors of italian soda. Definitely a nice spritzy beverage for a sunny day.

This time around, I ordered a single espresso macchiato. The espresso came in a smaller glass, almost as petite as a shot glass. But don't let the size fool you; it surely packed a full punch! I thought their espresso was pretty bold compared to other cafes but it definitely kept me awake for the rest of the day. My friend ordered a tomato and cheese quiche with a hibiscus iced tea. For those who aren't so flower-savvy, hibiscus is a fairly large, bright pink flower. The hibiscus iced tea was very refreshing; the barista said there was ginger in it too. At first, this made me a bit reluctant because ginger has a tendency to be overpowering. But this wasn't the case at all. Just a small hint of ginger with the sweetness of the tea itself was perfect. The cafe overall was pretty cute; I'd definitely come back while shopping a bit. Check the website here!
